Goals: We had some interesting challenges when working with Tiller Corporation on their new web site. They have four distinct brands under their main umbrella of the Tiller brand. They were previously showcasing these brands under the same web site and wanted to continue to do so. In addition to this, they also had an intranet that they wanted to include in the redesign.
To top that off, Tiller Corporation wanted to be able to maintain their site themselves. We opted to use Joomla! as the foundation for the site. By using this open source platform, we were able to keep costs low for our client. We paired this solution with Google Maps so that they are able to add and update new locations easily. By giving Tiller the ability to manage all of their content, they can make sure they share the most current information with their viewers.
In order to make sure the site’s viewers understood where they were in the site, we needed to make sure we had the navigation right from the start. We worked with the team at Tiller Corporation to cut and combine pages from their original site to make their new site as usable as possible. We then played with a variety of different designs to showcase all these brands. We opted for an unembellished, grayscaled look that uses pops of color to help users understand where they are on the site.
